When things are at their most challenging that is often when a Social Worker steps in the chaos. It is their superpower! You will find them all around the community just waiting and willing to help. Having such an amazing superpower makes it easy to see why we need National Social Work Month! March is home to Women’s History Month, March Madness, and even St. Patrick’s Day. Yet, social worker month is near and dear to my heart. As our Queen is a Clinical Social Worker, VP Alliance of Social Workers in Sports, (https://www.aswis.org/about) and your Gram Gram, my mom, was a Family Advocate Social Worker in Missouri for 30 years.
In 1984, the White House officially recognized National Social Work Month. Since then, each year has had its own theme and goal to bring more understanding to what social workers do. This is vital as the need for social workers has more than doubled in size in the last decade. These men and women may not wear caps; however, they are pretty superhuman in flesh form helping in areas of substance abuse, home health care, school counseling, PTSD, grief, and social service agencies to name a few. Thank you to everyone who has chose such a selfless career.
Could it be one of these social worker’s need to crack a smile after a heavy day? If so, our twins never fail to deliver on 5 funny finds from the week! Enjoy…..
1. What happens when you tell twins to go to bed? They perform a musical!!
2. Twins saw snowfall and said, “snow is just cloud poop” and I will never be able to make snow angels again!!
3. One of the main parts of being a dad or husband is just waiting in the car!!
4. I have better luck wrestling a bear and winning than taking away the remote from twin toddlers!!
5. Love is patient. Love is kind. Until you are racing through the airport with a toddler losing their mind!!
