Let’s be honest being pretentious is not a good look. Pretentious people try to make a good impressions on others by acting as though they are a bit more special, important, skilled, or wise than what is truthful. Instead of being authentic, genuine, and a team player. Such tendencies and traits come out as a person who is a one-upper or believe he or she should be respected as an authority on any and everything. Such instances stem from insecurity, learned traits, or what happens too often is young athletes being put a pedestal or a kid becoming pretentious because their parent own a company or holds a specific title. The importance I want you to learn my boys is that nothing in life will be given to you. You must earn it. Displaying the fruits of the spirit found in Galatians 5:22 is the best look. Not judging others but instead being honest, authentic, trustworthy, and genuine go much further than trying to build a pretentious reality that normally involves affinities for gossip and excuses that try to lead to a perception of self-importance that does not exist. The hard truth in life is that when we pass away or change directions everything still goes on. The best basketball coach of my lifetime Dean Smith spent 36 years at UNC. However, when he retired UNC still existed, still played basketball, and still loves him because of the genuine relationships built. Just decide to be good people and keep ties with people who get the big picture in life. Not everyone will get it, but those that are likewise will be the pieces that fit the puzzle. Always remember this quote by the best college football coach ever (taste like vinegar saying that: Go Dawgs!!) “If you want to make everyone happy, don’t be a leader; sell ice cream.” – Nick Saban
1. The twins had money to spend at the store. One bought a toy and one bought….a slab of ribs!!
2. Took the twins to an aquarium the other day and then both asked me if one weekend I could “take them to outer space!!” Don’t tell me being a Twin-Dad doesn’t rock!!
3. Twins asked for an apple and when they received them they broke out in lyrics declaring “cows make milk, bees make honey and apples make pies” like they were citing some kind of Oracle.
4. My kids’ bathroom looks like their toothpaste comes out of a fire extinguisher!!
5. Once the twins started pumping their legs on the park swings, the second half of my life began!!
