August 4th is National Assistance Dog Day!! It gives me a great reminder of who my main assistant is in life. Jesus Christ! Diligent, consistent prayer has been on my heart most recently. It has your mom and I getting up earlier to pray together before the day starts and what an amazing season we are currently in as we get to ride to work with one another 4x a week. We have been using this time to have no music or podcasts on and just pray. The Lord is with us wherever we go, and prayer can be done at any time because of this. Ecclesiastes 3:1 "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven..." Whether a new school year or a new football season, we are in a new season as a family, and it has been nice to have a different speed and be together more. It has shown me where we need to pray for your development as well as ours as parents. The Lord has really put upon my heart a season of consistent prayer and dedication for repeated requests like never before. Which goes hand in hand with National Assistance Dog Day!! What an incredible assistant we always have at our disposal: Our Lord and savior Jesus Christ!!
Fun fact the first guide dog team in the United States arrived in New York in 1928, led by Buddy, the seeing eye dog, and his owner Morris Frank. Since that time, the acceptance of helper dogs for people with disabilities, including vision, hearing and various other impairments, has continued to grow and develop. However, it was not until 1990 that the job of a dog who functions in a service capacity became defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), setting forth a more official role for assistance dogs of numerous breeds. Today, there are many kinds of assistance dogs, from the well-known guide dogs and hearing alert dogs that help people with vision and hearing loss, to lesser-known helpers like seizure alert and medical alert dogs that can recognize the signs of heart attacks, strokes and epilepsy. These animals play a key role in providing independence, assistance and companionship for folks with a wide range of disabilities. For this I am grateful that we have Jesus as our assistant and that he created such amazing animals like dogs. We miss you Blanca!! In addition, we are lucky that he blesses us with 5 Fun Finds as Twin-Parents each week. Hopefully, these put a smile on your face as much as they do ours.
