5 Friday Finds!!!!! Mr. Dillard!!

George Dillard has a special place in our family. A native of New Hanover County, he was the husband of 66 years to Patricia “Pat” Dillard. Mr. Dillard was the founder and former owner of Tar Heel Drug, Inc. in Graham, NC. He was an avid Tar Heel fan who was inducted into the City of Graham Sports Hall of Honor for all of the work he did with youth sports in the area. George was a member of Graham Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder. Most of all he is the father to one of my favorite people in the world and best friend Coach Dillard. Coach Dillard hired me to coach basketball after being overseas and his father traveled to see our games and even showed up early to watch my JV teams (he liked them better anyways)!! Mr. Dillard always allowed us to attend Duke vs UNc games in the Dean Dome and the most memorable game was dining at MaMa Dips Southern Soul Food. Little did I know he was going to pick up the tab for all of us attending the game (as long as you cheered as hard and loud for his Tar Heels) so thinking I was paying for my own meal I went ahead and order 4 entrees and 6 sides because MaMa Dip knows how to cook if you know what I am Saying! He was bewildered until I ate all of my food and some of Charlotte's leftovers. In addition, we often travel from Georgia to Raleigh, NC and we absolutely made it a point to stop in Graham, NC for the company of both George and Pat. The twins always looked forward to seeing their big dog, talking Tar Heels with George, and running around outside to stretch their legs. Certainly not least is the condo in Atlantic Beach that Coach Dillard and I always enjoyed getting away and watching games together while eating at the clubhouse. Mr. Dillard not only worked hard to build his pharmacy, but I am most proud he worked so hard at making a great family that in return has become our family. Mr. Dillard I miss you and hope you are high fiving Jesus and Dean Smith in heaven for all of us. Thank you for allowing us to be extended family. To our twins thank you for appreciating Coach, Pat, and George as much as you appreciate giving us 5 Friday finds.....

1. 5 weeks until school. Just remember the days are 60 hours long and there are 100 days in the week!!

2. There exist no souls more tortured than those of children waiting for sunscreen to be applied before they can enter the water!!

3. APPARENTLY when you’re playing the floor is lava with twins it is too obvious when you lay down on the floor for a nap and allow the lava to consume you completely that it will in fact burn you. I know this now!!

4. Use to be afraid Twins would lock me out of the house if I ran to get the mail. Now I just wish it would happen so I could get some alone time!!

5.  If you put dish soap on the slip and slide, not only does it count as a bath for your kids, but it’s also actually superior to a bath. Google it!!
