This weekend "marks" another year of being a father. Let me tell you being a DAD is DOPE!! It is a tireless, everyday adventure; however, I do not know if anything else has filled my heart with so much excitement, joy, and questions all at the same time. My mom was a single parent and I ensure she wears that badge of honor distinctively. Despite that it seems as if more dads are embracing the journey of fatherhood these days and doing their best regardless of if we ever had a true example growing up. Still bless our little daddy hearts, sometimes it seems like we have it all figured out and then we get reminded of how important moms are to us all. If moms are the well-balanced meal every kid needs to eat to grow up healthy and strong, dads are the seasoning and dessert that make all that healthy food palatable and enjoyable. We shake our peanuts and M&M’s before popping them in our mouths!! We make funny noises when we bend over!! But most of all we must be a notable example of how to treat our wife, our kid’s mom, and others!! So here is to the chore list cleverly disguised as a Lowe's gift card this weekend. To all the fathers who are present, keep being dope!! Remember the first time your kids started to call you ‘Dad.’ That is the word that gets me. Because to so many people I am called coach, but only two people call me ‘Dad.’ That by far is the dopest thing I have yet to experience in life!! Thank you for the following 5 dope finds you taught me as a father this week.....
1. Twins: What do you want to do on Father’s Day?
ME: *makes a few suggestions*
Twins and Wife: Umm no we don’t want to do any of those!! Try Again??
2. Father’s Day; NOUN; an occasion to get to like 2nd & ½ base and then twins barge in asking for some snack or attention or something!!
3. I’m a twin dad, you might know me from gobbledygook such as: “Hurry up we’re gonna be late” “What’s that smell” “Did you hit your brother? “and “Didn’t I just feed you?”
4. Twins woke me up with breakfast in Bed on Father’s Day……..JK JK!!! The truth is they rolled over and kicked me in the family jewels at 5:07a.m.!!
5. This morning the twins started diving into mom’s massive pile of clean laundry like a pile of leaves so I’m not discouraging them, I’m encouraging creative play!!
