Fartlek is literally, playing around with speeds – essentially, it's a form of unstructured speed work. Can anyone else relate to work being waves of full on sprints, followed by long distance running, the n immediately pivoting to full-blown sprints again? In Athletics there is constant movements, events, travel, competitiveness, teamwork and so many things I love.
However, it can cause stressors and it is vital to have open conversations about mental health and how we treat one another to attain success. Though Fartlek helps use time as the measurement. Anyone I lead especially you twin boys the best measure of time is how well you treat others and the quality of your relationships.
“So let us begin anew--remembering on both sides that civility is not a sign of weakness, and sincerity is always subject to proof. Let us never negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate." – JFK
It's too much to expect on any team or in any organization that everyone should all agree, but it is not too much to expect sacrifices and unvarying civility. I do not expect that as your father you will always see my viewpoint, but surely you can question my policies without questioning my conviction and motives. Your mother and father truly care for others and it is why we have deep passion in our careers. Thank you for giving us 5 cheerful finds this week outside of work…..
1. Today my twins asked me which solar system Planet Fitness was in, and I had to leave the room.
2. Ever gone to the bathroom and thought, you know what this experience is missing? A twin singing "No se habla de Bruno, no no no.” Fatherhood makes it possible!!
3. You haven't gone full dad mode until you start reading a historical marker plaque out loud to your uninterested twins!!
4. You can't break me, twins. My generation survived on cars that ran on gas to go see one another, dial-up AOL and texting on a flip phone!!
5. Before kids: Cocktails, date nights & impromptu getaways. After kids: Coffee, laundry & urgent care!!
