5 Friday Finds!!!!! Custom Made!!

At Church our current theme is the "Year of the Family." As a result, Charlotte and I got to thinking about traditions and customs we had growing up. There were very few. So we decided to come up with a "so-called" daily menu of customs, traditions, activities, or motivations to observe and have fun with as often as possible. After watching season 3 Barbecue Showdown in which an episode asks the pitmasters and chefs what were some family traditions centered around food. It made us motivated to create our own family traditions the Twins can take with them as they leave the roost and get asked questions about their upbringing. These we will have as guide posts that the twins can talk about with friends, invite friends and prayerfully will create our house as the hang spot for not just them but all of their friends in addition to sharing it with their spouse and passing it down to their children. A tradition is the transmission of customs or beliefs from generation to generation, or the fact of being passed on in this way. Our daily "menu" that has been created is not foolproof, times will be busy, and kids will age. However, we firmly believe our kids love routine, get special meaning by doing things they enjoy, want family centered time, and as reiterated multiple times over the blog years breaking bread has such a way of bringing people together as well as etching rituals on the heart. At some point it may become mundane or silly, nonetheless, the Twins will always know what day it is, the door and fridge will always be open for them and any friend, and shortly come to love the traditions we establish.

Southern Sundays (Sunday best dressed for church and soul food made from scratch. Show the boys how to spiritually lead their family and learn how to cook southern super)

Smash Mondays (Smash the week starting on Monday with MoHawks and be different by embracing work with motivation and dedication)

Taco Tuesdays (Every Tuesday whether at home or after practices Tacos will be observed and devoured)

Walk and Word Wednesdays (Wednesday mornings will be our family breakfast dates to get "over the hump" prior to school + work by taking a family walk first and eating breakfast over a Bible devotion. This will either be as a whole unit or we will make it a rotating date to have one on one time with the twins. Early bird gets the worm!)

Catch Thursday (Catch Thursday by fishing for family joy by eating fresh seafood prior to the weekend)
