At times it might go without saying how fortunate I am. People may see the boys and I hanging out each day or family outings each weekend. That does not just come easily. It comes by working at our marriage, learning to be a father on the fly, and being honest to yourself. We have been blessed with occupations that have not cut any salaries and I am fortunate enough to have an occupation that allows me to work my own hours. Which is why at times I might be wrapping up at midnight or later so that my wife can work her set schedule, the boys do not have to be enrolled in daycare, and we are not adding extra anxiety from the pandemic. Through it all I never forget where I come from either: that is a trailer park in southwest Missouri eating mac n cheese 3-4 times a week for dinner. At times I use to be embarrassed about admitting that, however, it is the exact reason I have no issues smiling daily, enjoying my kids in the middle of the day, and knowing everything I have was earned. My wife is the best teammate and she knows how much I enjoy taking care of my 3 crazies. Honey we miss you on our daily adventures! It has been since March 14th that my wife and I have been alone, away from kids, on a date or just on a walk together. Tomorrow that changes! Thank You Paige! On that note let us kick off the weekend with a few smiles………..
1. My twins think that the 4 basic food groups consist of: cookies, ice cream, doughnuts, and fries. With that said feed them healthy and occasionally agree on those food groups. They might ask for one of the food groups every hour, but we do not give in. Often I just give them a piece of lettuce and they are happy as clams. Adults we could really learn something from them.
2. With that stated above, my wife brought Cookie Monster and Elmo figurines this week. They now carry around balls and these figurines everywhere. While at the breakfast table this week, they each tried to feed Cookie Monster and Elmo bacon. When they did not swallow the bacon, the boys got really upset! SO, DID I! WHO SHARES BACON! What the $%^&
3. Again, I am thankful that my wife allows me to be a leader in my house. When picking a pediatrician, she took a step back and said pick the best one in your opinion. We could not be more excited, thrilled, and thankful for Dr. Albert. She is one of a kind and my only wish is she would stumble upon some of these 5 Friday Findings.
4. My twins put in a strobe light in every room this week all by themselves. NO lies! Both are tall enough and have learned how to open and shut blinds!! Rave anyone??!
5. After returning from the bathroom this week, I asked the twins what box they had in the man-kid playroom. "chaos!" "chaos! Daddy” I knew they were saying "crayons," but it's not as if they are wrong.
You make me want to be a good father.
This is one of my fave entries so far ! You are a wonderful father. I definitely miss being able to be a part of the adventures !
