5 Friday Findings!!!!!
Week 4 of quarantine has come to an end! 28th day? Friday Findings: the truth that you must own a sense of humor to not go crazy when parenting. Especially in these unorthodox times. Even if normal routines are not in place there is so much to be thankful about still. Check to see if you or others are waking up and attacking the day with a “positive” “intentional” “constructive” “optimistic” attitude!
1. My kids are extremely Demanding! Who has two thumbs and is at fault? This guy, me! My apologies. It stems from challenging, pushing, and asking the best from my teams, students, my wife, even the wine I drink like a basic stay at home parent. The twins might not be 2 but they know the difference from right and wrong. For example, they say poopy often when they see that “God-awful” color orange!
2. Not to be rude, but my kids are easy to clean up after. That most likely stems from finding #1. However, my wife is not. Even though I demand a great deal from her, especially at certain times of the day, wink wink! She equates to picking up after another child.
3. Sincere apologies for the parents who are stuck watching boring cartoons all day. My twins prefer sports. Both come asking to watch “ball” and daddy on the TV! Thus, I get stuck watching basketball all day. Oh man it is rough. In the occasion the attention spans go hay-wire (keep goldfish close or just knock them out?) Scooby-Doo, dance music, and Benadryl are great alternatives compared to some of the kids show I listened to for 1.2 seconds.
4. The twins get to camp out in a tent every night and I might be jealous. We walked into their room early this week to find brothers sleeping in the same crib! Yet, we did not put both in the same crib. He missed his brother what can we say?! No issue, both can sleep together in the bigger and higher crib. Watch the monitor the next night and both fall asleep quickly (must have been a conspiracy). Next morning the door opens, and boundless amounts of baby wipes and books are spread out over the floor and asleep in the rocking chair are who?! Too cute! Now they literally get to sleep in some tent thing for cribs that each love and I want to take outside and camp. Winning by the age of 2!
5. Shout out to our Nannies! Also, our church small group!
Our nannies took the twins today for a 2-hour window so that both of us could focus on important zoom meetings. Easily just saying a thank you for the ability to zero in on projects is a highlight. However, the excitement the boys had when they saw you pull up is astonishing! We are richly grateful!
In addition, our small group continues to keep prayer request, discussions, and virtual meetings. We do life together and at times life can get tough, even though I keep humor. One of our members lost a sister 2 weeks ago and a mom this week. We are praying for you, love you, and are reminded that life is full, fun, and never forgotten. Make a difference! When the head stone is made, the dash from your birth year to end year simply indicates how you lived. Did you impact others? Did you volunteer? Or love? Or did you waste the time complaining or holding a grudge?
